Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience Chapter 9 Discussion: Cheating Chaos | Flow Book Club
Our group discussion on Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience, by Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. This is done in collaboration with the meetup group 52 Living Ideas.
Chapter 9: Cheating Chaos
“How is it possible that people are able to achieve harmony of mind, and grow in complexity, even when some of the worst things imaginable happen to them?”
This chapter explores how flow can help people cope with stress and even trauma, and create order from chaos. How can we take misfortune and make something good come from it? We discover how “a person who knows how to find flow from life is able to enjoy even situations that seem to allow only despair.”
